EAR-ly 2016

On 5-6th August, BRQ Vantaa Festival (Finland) welcomed the 2016 EAR-ly competition, organized by NORDEM, the Nordic Early Music Federation. The objectives of NORDEM are to promote early music in the Nordic and Baltic regions, to represent Nordic and Baltic early music in Europe, and to stimulate and support education in the field of early music.

The overall aim of EAR-ly, held every two years in a Nordic or Baltic country, is to encourage the formation of new early music ensembles (and the development of soloists) and to stimulate an interest in early music among students throughout the Nordic-Baltic region. Early music primarily encompasses the baroque, renaissance and medieval repertoires.

The jury was composed of Peter Holtslag (recorders player), Tuuli Lindeberg (soprano) and Jesper Hamilton (festival producer).
Today the jury has the pleasure of announcing the name of the winner of EAR-ly 2016, whom will be invited to give 3 concerts in NORDEM ́s member festivals during the season 2017/18 for a symbolic fee with all expenses covered, including travel and accommodation.

Juho Myllylä, recorders, is the winner of the 2016 competition
